Champs-Elysées is a noble street and one of the main thoroughfares of Paris. The French also call the Champs-Elysées "la plus belle avenue du monde", which means "the most beautiful avenue in the world".
Champs-Elysées Street is one of the most famous streets in the world with its famous cafes, shops and luxury theaters. The meaning of Champs-Élysées is "Plain of the Elysées" and the Elysée Palace is also located near this street. Elysée means heaven in Greek mythology.
Until 1616, the Champs Elysees was a plain where there were markets. On that date, Queen Marie de' Medici decided to expand the axis of the gardens of the Tuileries Garden with a tree-lined street.
Every year on the 14th of July, a magnificent military parade is held on the occasion of the Bastille Day celebrations on the Champs Elysees in Paris.
